The Yellow-Eyed Penguin, or Hoiho in Māori, is one of the rarest and most unique penguin species in the world. Native to New Zealand, this penguin is easily identified by its distinctive yellow eyes and pale yellow feathers that contrast with its dark gray body. The Yellow-Eyed Penguin is known for its shy and solitary nature, often found in secluded coastal forests and bushland. These penguins are primarily crepuscular, meaning they are most active during dawn and dusk. They are skilled swimmers, spending much of their time foraging in the ocean for fish and squid.
